Sacred Numbers

Numerology is the study of dvinity, mathematically encoded in its various conceptual and material expressions. Each number holds a frequency. You can, for example, add all the digits of your birthday and then reduce them back down to a single number, in order to figure out your life path, your unique soul blueprint.

Let's take my birthday as an example: 01.10.1994 - 1+1+1+9+9+4=16 = 1+6= 7

Numerology is just as important in tarot, as it is in daily life. Take note of repeating numbers - they could be signs of certain deities, angels or guides trying to connect with you, or simply show up to tell you that you're in alignment with your purpose, in a cosmic, synchronistic flow state. Here are my main interpretations of the numerical symbolic meanings:

0 - divine chaos, zero point of creation, cosmic fresh start, everything is possible

1 - initiation and leadership energy, new beginnings (if you're born on the first of any given month, like me, you've probably come to find out that you repeatedly uproot people's belief systems, bringing lasting initiatory change to those around you)

2 - duality, relationship, lunar qualities of emotion and connection (in Tarot, the High Priestess, Atu 2, corresponds to the Moon)

3 - creativity, playfulness, expansion (just look at Atu 3, the Empress, ruled by Venus, the ultimate muse and divine child of numbers 1 and 2)

4 - stability, foundations and sacred containers. This one puzzled me for some time, because Venus, as soon as we started workig together, always made her presence known by showing me an abundance of 4s as signs and synchronicities, guiding me into specific situations and relationships... But when I finally figured it out, everything made sense. Like four walls of a house, the number 4 signals our ultimate Home, Mother Earth (four cardinal directions, four elements in tarot), four points of the cross (the vertical and horizontal axis, the divine and earthly planes respectively, meeting in the heart center), the womb of creation as the loving container underneath it all, the love reality is made of. 4×4=16, Atu 16, The Tower (a symbol of destruction), is in traditional French decks called "The House of God", ultimate stability. Love. What holds us when everything else falls away. What can be found underneath all egoic masks... The ultimate truth which is authenticity which is beauty.

As a side tangent, defining the ontoligically masculine role as one of "containment", like some spiritual gurus do, is, in my opinion, part of what keeps everyone miserable inside this patriarchal inversion. Even biologically, the vagina "contains" the penis, not the other way around. The Mother is the ultinate container. Love the ultimate stability. The physical body and Earth our ultimate Home. As humans, dancing with the Goddess, like Atu 4, the Emperor, creates Venusian abundance and flourishing order...

5 - another Venusian number due to her synodic cycle, but also one of change, humanity, and wisdom gained through doctrine and experience (just look at the pentagram resembling a human with outstretched arms, and Atu 5, the Hierophant, ruled by Taurus ruled by Venus)

6 - harmony and balance

7 - also related to Venus, as the number of Netzach, the sephirotic sphere connected to Venus and its keyword Victory, just as much as it is linked in with Four (4×4=16=7), while at the same time symbolizing magic, spirituality, occult wisdom, sacred cycles, movement and the Holy Grail (refer to the Chariot, Atu 7 in Tarot, especially Crowley's rendition - associated with Cancer, the zodiacal mother and ruler of the 4th House of family and home)

8 - infinity, larger cycles (the number of years the Venusian synodic cycle takes until completion, the eight-pointed Star of Ishtar), 2×4 resembling ultimate stability or bigger systems, 8 is seen as the halfway point between the square and the circle, the divine and the material, endless loop of divinely inspired action

9 - wisdom, introspection and culmination (look at the Hermit, Atu 9, ruled by our lovely, studious earth priestess Virgo - "virgin" originally had very little to do with sexual purity, and instead meant "priestess belonging to herself", a woman whole onto herself, without requiring male supervision)

10 - overflow, ultimate culmination and new beginning, fulfillment
